Important Update: Cancellation due to COVID-19

Dear Attendee,

The 2020 FBINAA National Annual Training Conference scheduled to take place in New Orleans, Louisiana in July has been canceled.

Here is what to expect going forward:

1. Hotel Reservations – If you booked a hotel room at one of the conference hotels using the link in your conference registration confirmation email, your hotel reservation will be canceled on your behalf. The hotels included in the automatic cancellation are the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, InterContinental New Orleans, and Holiday Inn New Orleans-Downtown Superdome. No action is required by you at this time. You should receive an email confirming the hotel room reservation cancellation. If you do not receive a cancellation confirmation by email, please reach out to the hotel directly. Their phone numbers can be found on the Travel page.

If you booked a hotel room outside the conference hotel block or using a different mechanism than the links provided to you (Orbitz, Expedia, etc.), you will need to manage and confirm your hotel room cancellation.

2. Conference Registration Fees – All registration fees paid will be refunded completely. This will take some time, so we ask you to be patient as we process refunds via credit card and check. You will receive an email regarding the refund. We may reach out to gather more information from you to issue a refund by check if a credit card refund is no longer an option due to a credit card number change, or updated expiration date. Please monitor your inbox over the next few weeks for confirmation of your refund.

3. Optional Activities & Tours + Ground Transportation – You will receive a full refund of fees paid on any optional activities or tours you may have booked through the conference. The company that manages these tours is currently closed due to the COVID-19 safety guidelines. Once their employees can return to the office refunds will be issued. Please monitor your inbox over the next few weeks for confirmation of your refund.

4. Post-Conference Cruise – If you booked a cabin for the post-conference cruise, you will receive a full refund or credit on fees paid on a future Carnival cruise. Please contact Debbie Boudreaux directly at 504-207-8153.

We are here to help. Please email the Conference Helpline at conference@fbinaa.org if you have any questions or comments.

Letter from President Wingerson

April 21, 2020

Dear FBINAA Members and Colleagues:

The health and safety of our members, conference attendees, presenters, partners, FBINAA staff, as well as local law enforcement and residents is our highest priority. We have been closely monitoring the coronavirus impact and status throughout the United States and listening to our members share that their agencies are restricting travel and reducing training funds for at least the remainder of the year.

After much review, dialogue, and following the guidance from the President’s administration, CDC, and state and local health authorities, the Executive Board has determined that it is in the best interest of our conference attendees to cancel the 2020 FBINAA National Annual Training Conference scheduled for July 18-21, 2020 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Last week we heard from the President’s administration on the new guidelines for states, individuals and employers on how to gradually restore activity and “Opening Up America Again.” As the threat of the virus spreading declines, we are cognizant that many states will be in different phases of opening their economy which will be challenging to predict. After consulting with local and national law enforcement and health leaders, this is the socially responsible and right decision for the safety of our conference attendees, the local community and will also give our nation the necessary time to get its legs back underneath it.

This is disappointing to us all. Yet, our primary focus must continue to be on the health and safety of our members, law enforcement communities and service to the general public. We also want to be respectful of your agencies and their priority focus on the COVID-19 response and efforts to return to normal state-of-affairs as quickly as possible.

Our hearts are with our members, associates and partners who are in the midst of this crisis. We wish everyone health and safety.

Sincerely,

Kevin Wingerson
